Chicago has wrestled control of the AL from KC and Cleveland and five teams are making a run at the WC. KC, Cleveland, Washington, NY, and Boston are all separated by only three games. Talk about a tight race.
In the NL, the Nitros are back atop the division, six up on the Carp. The Carp remain within striking distance of the top, and Pittsburgh and Chicago remain within seven of St. Louis. Conventional wisdom says that Pitt or Chicago will have to make a deal to catch up but you never know.
Overall, the teams in the league from top to bottom look very competitive, with all but two rebuilding teams playing at .444 ball or better. That's very impressive. No easy wins for anyone in LBJL.
