I read somewhere in some thread about chaperoning that there was a possibility of shrinking the size of a league. We currently have four unowned teams, two in the AL and two in the NL. Is there any possibility we might consider shrinking the league from 16 teams to 12? Just looking for some insight and thoughts from you guys on this. I might be jumping the gun as some of the teams have not been unowned that long, but I'm just wondering if this has crossed anyone else's mind.August 31, 2017 at 11:47PM View BBCode
I would rather do that than expand to 24 teams. 24 team leagues are fine at first but with more owners you end up with dead teams quicker and then have the same problems on a larger scale. I'd like to try 12 teamsSeptember 01, 2017 at 04:46AM View BBCode
I've never heard them doing a 12 team league, but I agree I would rather have 12 active owners, than 18 with 6 non-active owners....September 01, 2017 at 05:25AM View BBCode
I'd like to hear from the commish on this... And clarify whether or not this is or can even be done... But I'd rather play in a 12-team league with 12 dedicated owners than a 16 team league with four dead teams. My instincts tell me it would actually be really fun to play in a slightly smaller league.September 01, 2017 at 03:44PM View BBCode
I wonder with the fewer teams in a 12 team league if the amateur draft would shrink ?? I would hope it would stay the same that way with fewer teams we would all get better draft years.September 01, 2017 at 03:56PM View BBCode
However I just went through the "League info" to see who has renewed their teams and until when and it looks like we only have 3 teams that are Dead = Boston and New York River Dogs, Pittsburgh Edge. Both Houston and Seattle have paid up until December and January.September 01, 2017 at 11:45PM View BBCode
Both Meazer and Ty have a "C" next to their names which I thought indicated they were chaperones. If they've paid for those teams then this is a different story.September 02, 2017 at 12:11AM View BBCode
Under league info it does show a "c" with both of those names but it also shows TY for Seattle as "renewed until Dec 26, 2017" and for Meazer for Houston it shows "renewed until Jan 19, 2018".September 02, 2017 at 12:25AM View BBCode
I'm wondering if it really means anything. The page with available speed league teams still shows Boston, Seattle, Pittsburgh, and Houston as available. I hadn't realized NYN was also dead. Well, one dead team is better than five.September 02, 2017 at 01:25AM View BBCode
As far as I know, leagues cannot be reduced to 12 teams. A 24 team league could be reduced to a 16 I believe.September 02, 2017 at 01:47AM View BBCode
When teams are being chaperoned, they are often listed as being "owned" for several months by the chaperone. That is, I believe, so that admin doesn't have to constantly be renewing them. We have five teams that are without owners. Two are "unowned", which means they don't have a chaperone. Those teams are Pittsburgh and Boston. The others have chaperones.September 02, 2017 at 03:38AM View BBCode
I can't find the thread I read this in originally, but this thread suggests that it is, at least, theoretical:September 06, 2017 at 08:37PM View BBCode
Seattle and Houston have chaperones. The other teams (3) need owners. Teams that are listed as UNOWNED are teams where the previous owner has asked that the team be removed from his/her list of teams. They don't want the teams wins/losses to count against their record if they no longer run the team. So it looks like we have five teams looking for permanent owners.September 20, 2017 at 01:45AM View BBCode
The Cy Young League and the Ron Santo League are both 15 games per day leagues but the rules are different, system 5 vs. system 3. A possibility if we can come to an agreement on the rules. I think we would have sixteen owners if we did this.September 20, 2017 at 02:06AM View BBCode

Not that chaperoning two teams in the same league wouldn't be a conflict, especially in the same division but have New York (NL) and Houston made any recent trades?Pages: 1
