Baltimore decides to go for the 3rd baseman with the 1st overall pick, after entertaining the idea of going pitcher first overall. I love the hitter that Branch will become. He is at supremely high levels at his age and will no doubt be one of the great hitters of all time with proper minor time service time. My big concern is the range. He will be a defensive liability even with 5 years in the minors. But will his bat overcome that? We shall see but I love the pick.

Battey jumped out at me when I first looked at the draft list but on closer examination I felt that Branch was the best player in the draft. Also I'm geared toward drafting OS 18 players right now. My team is in terrible shape so I feel like I'm looking at a long-term rebuild. The range of 1 is quite terrifying but he's going to absolutely rake -- I think it'll make up for it. I'm hoping for lots of defensive improves but even at that it's going to be an issue. He'll play first base in the bigs I think.Pages: 1
