Minimum win vote

September 02, 2016 at 11:47AM View BBCode

Since this one anti-tanking rule seems to have some backing to it. We'll try it first.

QUESTION: Should the GPL institute a minimum win rule with a five slot draft penalty for failing to win that many games?

(If there are enough yes votes, but not enough for either choice, we will have a revote on the exact number).

My only problem with this is a team like mine. Look at it. I am not purposely tanking. And there is no way I am going to make 55 wins. Just my two cents.

What if by chance the pick has been traded away...say a future draft pick was traed, then when the year comes around, the team has a 50 win season, but does not hold the draft pick? Does the team that acquired the pick seasons ago get penalized for receiving the pick?

That's the way it is in the TWL, whoever holds the penalty takes the penalty. It's never been a problem in the TWL, but I suppose there could be a first time for everything.

usually though, bottom teams don't trade away draft picks and the top teams who are, usually are competitive enough through the picks that are traded.

The team making the trade has to decide if the owner he is trading with his honorable enough to do his best not to get a draft penalty.

You can be pretty much guaranteed the first time an owner does that to another, his future draft picks as trade bait become greatly diminished in value to all owners.

I believe Chmela11 meant to vote at the top which would be all the owners then.

I have contacted Admin with the vote results to confirm. We previously had one owner who did and admin said we would only need two-thirds vote to pass, which in this case would be 10 or 11 votes depending on how Anaheim is counted and whether or not I have a proxy vote for Anaheim.

In either case, if the 2/3rds vote is correct this passes and will go into effect. I had suggested it go into effect the season after this one (2178) but another owner suggested owners be given more time (four years) to adjust so I will put a poll up in which will require just a majority vote.
