Help with defensive coverage.

On defence. the famous dodge tackle is nailing me in some games real bad with A A+ tacklers. opponents receivers are B and less break tackle. Is it because M2M ?

If so if I define short 4.5 and long 5.5 and over. Will deep zone then cover 4.5 and over passes?

To my understanding we define yardage in the play call for selecting plays. But is this yardage then what we are also defending with our selection.

See above will short cover 0-4.5 / m2m 4.6-5.5 / deep 5.6 and over ?

If not what are the pre set yardage covers?

Agility on defense is important if your defenders agility is less than acceptable the defenders will get juked quite a bit.

I agree there but it seems to only happen with teams completeting 7 - 9 yard passes. when I m2m. My question is more about deep zone configuration? Can I define deep zone a little as 6 yards in coverage?

dodged tackles, as I understand it, are caused by an intersection of TKL/AGIL of the DB and AGIL of the WR. Brk Tkl, so far as I understand, plays no role in dodged tackles, only broken ones. man to man would be most vulnerable to it, as there should be, most of the time, just the one potential tackler in the vicinity.

How do you get your defense to be in and STAY in nickel on long yardage plays? Thanks

you can't, per se. if the offence comes out in shotgun your D should automatically play nickel. but while you can call a deep zone on 3rd and 20, if the O comes out in Pro Set, you might still end up in 4-3. I don't think the sim equates a deep zone play call with a nickel formation call.

To get a more better understanding then I've read the rules help section even help others when I could. One question I have never had answered and even been asked in 2 leagues where we have some help topics here and there is as follows.

So short pass specs vs long minimum spec I mean game play yardages.. Not in my play call section but game engine? when an opponent calls short what is the max distance he is throwing? When he calls long what is the minimum distance he will go? I have never been able to find this info. I will then know medium will fall in between these 2. And assume the defence coverage falls into these yardages as well?

Thank you for the first part the agility tackle answer It has helped me get a better grasp on the D.

chris has shared this a few times in various threads. I don't remember the exact numbers but it's something like short pass= 5-10 yards, medium= 8-20 yards and long= 18-40. give or take.

So short would be the best call to stop those 6 - 9.5 yarders that have burned me in the past thinking they were medium passes and I was m2m ing them.
