Incidence of Injuries

November 13, 2014 at 04:41PM View BBCode

New league, and new Sim Dynasty player (to football, actually found my 6 yr old baseball accounts sitting dormant), and after only 5 quarters of preseason football I have seen 9 injuries, 8 of them on my team. Despite having tried to have an emphasis on health have I managed somehow to draft only the sick, lame and lazy or is the incidence of injury seeming somewhat high?

Thank you,
SadBolter (formerly and again JollyRoger/JollyRoger2)

Another quarter, another minor injury. 12 in 7 quarters, 10 to my team, one each to the 2 other teams I've faced.

Is there something wrong my roster?

Looking at the game, those are not really injuries in the sense that the player is out for a significant length of time. "Shaken up on the play," from the game guide:

"Players who are listed as "shaken up" have taken (or delivered) a hard hit or have a potential injury and are being checked out on the sideline by the trainer. Most of the time they are back on the field within 2-5 plays."

Ok, I do get that, I was just shocked at the frequency and relative one-sidedness of them. I ended up 2 games with 11 vs 4 for the other 2 teams. One of mine is a broken hand, 7 weeks. I did look at a couple of the other games and see maybe the frequency is consistent, just not nearly so lopsided.

So again, is this just a minor statistical anomaly or did I manage to draft a bunch of very fragile players?

I think it is just a very small sample size. There will be a lot of in game minor injuries that only last for a few plays. It is just bad luck that most of them happened to your team. The lesson to be learned, of course, is to have good backups.
