1) The Buzz Minor League Award will be awarded for the Best Minor League Organization
2) The Buzz Minor League Player of the Year Award for best Minor League Everyday Player
3) The Buzz Minor League Pitcher of the Year Award for best Minor League Pitcher
The awards are named after Buzz Arlett the All-Time Minor League Homerun Champion. By happenstance Buzz also happens to be my SymDyn 'handle'.
What, you?ve never heard of Buzz Arlett? For shame. He?s only one of the greatest athletes that Oakland has ever produced.
(Actually, he was born so long ago that he?s a native of Elmhurst ? which Oakland annexed in 1909.)
Arlett was known as the ?Babe Ruth of the minor leagues? and starred as a spitball pitcher and switch-hitting slugger for the Oakland Oaks. (And let me just pause here to put this on my Christmas list. Size XL, please.)
Arlett hit 432 home runs in the minor leagues, including 251 with the Oaks. He spent a year with the Phillies, but our boy Buzz was a man ahead of his time.
It didn?t work out so hot with the fielding, so he went to the Baltimore Orioles (then a minor league club) in 1932, where he had a pair of four-homer games. Then it was on to the Minneapolis Millers, where he settled down for good.
So here?s to you, Buzz Arlett.

Starting 2090 there will be three (3) Awards:1) The Buzz Minor League Award will be awarded for the Best Minor League Organization
2) The Buzz Minor League Player of the Year Award for best Minor League Everyday Player

Minton collected CPs like an everyday player, have never seen a pitcher pile up 39 CPs in one season. Was a down season as a whole for pitcher's CPs.

Lots of young talent even after trading top pitching prospec Tanana.

I too have never seen a pitcher collect cps like Minton. I was is utter shock watching him this season. Thanks for the recognition Buzz!

(Honorable Mention: Clyde Jones and Dave Schappert of Balt, Ed Houck Chicago Capones, Phil Blume Arizona).
Jones was close to tying for the honor. Blume led the minors with 69 CPs.
Minor League Pitcher of Year : Lefty Melton SP Baltimore D-Bags
(Honorable Mention: Dee Barnes Tor, Buckshot McGeehan Wash, Raul Sinnett Ariz)
Lefty is doing great for a right-hander. Barnes came out of nowhere to make himself a viable reliever. Sinnett a 5th rounder at 24os piled up 30 Cps to lead minor league pitchers. Overall thin conversion rate for pitchers.

What's good for Detroit is bad for me. We seem to have similar windows coming up again. Worries me a bit. Good job though. I guess I shouldn't higher my uncle as head of player development.

Nice 73 CP season for Smith. Duncan should develop into a power guy. Clark looks to be a high average and power hitter. Kamp developing into a future star.

(Honorable Mention: Lloyd Rensa SP Hou, Eric Dunn SP Atl)
Moret's 32 CPs turns him into a legit prospect. Rensa at 18os developed nicely. During his 24os season Dunn made himself relevant with a 25 CPs.

Lot of talent down on the farm for the BeerMen. Houston has several future quality players.
