"The Ol' Left-hander" has rounded third and headed for home for the final time in his great career. Any Reds fan or fan of baseball in general knows he will be missed greatly. I know personally I will never be able to listen to another Reds radio broadcast without a tear coming to my eye because of my thoughts of a man who to me became the voice of the Reds during my youth. I could go on listing his accomplishment for a long time but for anyone interested they can look them up or read the articles about him. I just wanted to post my own tribute to him and say goodbye in my own way. God bless and be with his family, friends and fans in this somber time.November 17, 2007 at 06:15PM View BBCode
well put. I'm 33 years old and I know knowing else besides Marty and Joe. I heard some guy on a local Cincinnati talk show radio say that other than his wife, he as heard Marty and Joe's voice more than anybody else in the world. It won't be the same.November 17, 2007 at 11:25PM View BBCode
Its always difficult to embrace those who replace the voices of your youth. I grew up in Philadelphia listening to Harry Kalas and Richie Ashburn. It hasn't been the same since Ashburn died and last year, with the introduction of Gary Mathews as color man it was extremely difficult.Pages: 1
