Simple explanation...........Its manny being manny! Sigh, Sox sure seem to celebrate at interesting times. If game 5 gets out of hand I bet manny will get one in the ear, playoffs or not.

yeah i assumed that no one got one today as it was a playoff game. would they store that up until the regular season in '08 and plunk him then?

I do agree that it was out of place and he probably shouldn't have done it. But in Manny's defense, it was the 3rd HR in the back to back to back. I don't see why it's a big deal anyway, players celebrate in every other sport.

Does "standing and admiring your home run" really count as celebrating? Football players don't usually stand around looking at the ball after they catch a touchdown.

I was never under it. Baseball players already celebrate home runs, in the dugout. The Red Sox especially have a whole bunch of elaborate hugs and handshakes and various homoerotic poses every time something good happens. To add one of those "let's admire our home run" poses on top of all that is a total dick move.

I'm offended by the way NFL kickers watch their field goals sail through the uprights. Those pricks should keep their heads down and run straight to the bench. Don't even get me started about their prissy head buts with the holder. Those bitches...:)

That said, if I am the Indians, I don't worry about getting even or any of that stupid stuff. Winning and getting back to the WS is far more important that some guy admiring a HR. I think that the stupid sack dances/celebrations that people do are far more offensive... I mean, getting a sack does not result in points (unlike HRs and TDs)...and sometimes, it does not even end the current drive/possession. What's there to celebrate???

I just think Manny was juiced after seeing the first two go out and then hitting the absolute tar out of one himself. Especially after his worst full season as a pro, he should shelve these theatrics and concentrate on the basics. In the past, his hitting was a "Get out of jail free card" for his baserunning and fielding, but now he's becoming a full-blown liability.
Despite his impressive counting stats, I think "Manny being Manny" is going to cost him some HOF votes.

Where's the outrage over Victor Martinez barely walking around the bases? Despite his admiration of his homer, Manny actually circled the bases faster...maybe Victor should get one in the ear, too.
