Regarding the above trade, Hamilton wants me to explain why I took Cleveland's offer over his. Hamilton offered me Rose and his 2025 1st round pick for Meade and Campillo. It's a good offer, but I liked TR's better. Meade's improves are good, 6 & 7 a season in both V and C, while Wilcox has been up and down. I like Meade better. The NYA 2025 1st will be a late pick I expect, but of course the Cleveland 2nd could be rather late as well. The main thing that decided it for me was Foreman's power. At OS 25, he could conceivably hit A+ vrs righties and A- vrs lefties. And his contact is decent as well. Rose will never hit for power. But both offers were close, so it was a hard choice.

I hesitated to mention it, since I wanted to keep it under my cap, but the karma thing was really the deciding factor :)

I know, it makes zero sense for me to be giving away a draft pick for a 36 year old pitcher.
Hammond is an A mentor and a 3rd round pick isn't much, maybe we can stay competitive this year, maybe I just like to trade - who knows.

Well it's July and we haven't collapsed yet so I thought "Hey I wonder if there's any ML ready pitching available ?", checked the Trade Block and saw that Baltimore was offering up veteran arm, and one time Buckeye, [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5929253]Chile Wilson[/url] for a 4th round pick.
I thought about it because honestly Chile's ratings aren't very good but damn the guy still gets results, so I made the offer and Koz accepted.
Hopefully Chile can weave his magic for another three months and maybe we can catch Boston, for a 4th round pick it's certainly worth a flyer.

Zawinul for Hubbell and draft pick swaps

A trade has been completed between the Cleveland Buckeyes and the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Brooklyn Dodgers receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7621219]Billy Hubbell[/url], Draft Pick - 2025 Round 3 (NYA) from the Cleveland Buckeyes in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5783664]Joe Zawinul[/url], Draft Pick - 2025 Round 3 (BRO).
It's the first week of July, my team is in a dogfight and I only have three healthy, reliable SPs . The [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=7390935]Reacher[/url] experiment was quickly turning sour so I reached out for a veteran arm.
Zawinul is in his 2nd year of declines but he's still A- overall and his numbers haven't dropped off so I pitched a deal at Brooklyn but it wasn't entirely to their liking so we danced a bit and a deal was done.
I've got other minor league SPs that I like more than Hubbell but at OS21 and B- overall he's a nice prospect . I'm hoping Zawinul can give me solid outings out of the #4 spot and help get us back to the post season. The draft pick spot probably moves me up a few spots in the 3rd round butr it's mostly just wondow dressing.

Donovan and Sharperson for Aumont

A trade has been completed between the Cleveland Buckeyes and the New York Bad Gnus. The New York Bad Gnus receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7082135]Ty Sharperson[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7273854]Mike Donovan[/url] from the Cleveland Buckeyes in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6644793]Peter Aumont[/url].
The bottom line is my pitching still isn't good enough, there's hope for the future in arms like [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=7390935]Reacher[/url] and [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=7273826]Wilcox[/url] but it's August 23rd and although we're fading the Buckeyes are still only four games out of a wild card spot.
One thing I've learned in SIM is that if you can make the playoffs almost anything can happen so I'll do whatever I can to make the playoffs.
Aumont is OS34 but I've had good success with older pitchers lately so I think he's good for another year after this and he's certainly an upgrade on what I have been running out there . In Donovan and Sharperson I give up two second level prospects, in my mind guys who can contribute but not be regulars on a playoff team, though Donovan may prove me wrong.
It's a low risk deal for me and New York gets younger by moving an older player who had spent two years on the trade block.
On another note the level of activity, or lack thereof, in the league is a bit worrisome as this is only the 4th trade in the league this year after only seven in 2023 despite close competition .

TR summarized the above deal very well. Even at OS32, I was not able to move Aumont to what most likely would have been a contending team. I figured I might as well trade him for two younger players. Sharperson will not develop into a pitcher who is much better than he is right now, but he should log innings in games where I need a long reliever. Donovan is a former 1st round pick who hasn't developed very well. Nevertheless, he could advance a notch in a few skill categories and become a decent backup or part-time starter. In short, the Buckeyes fill a short-term need and the Gnus obtain at least some value for the veteran RP.

Patterson for Murray

A trade has been completed between the Philadelphia BullFrogs and the New York Bad Gnus. The New York Bad Gnus receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7621176]Dixie Murray[/url] from the Philadelphia BullFrogs in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7621143]Lonnie Patterson[/url].
The Bad Gnus catching corps is aging while the minor league squad is devoid of good prospects. Good catchers are hard to find. Therefore, our management team decided to obtain Murray, a former 1st round pick. At OS24, Murray still could develop into a decent backstop, one who could be acceptable until we obtain a top prospect. Note that Murray has elected to use his given name, DeShawn, instead of the nickname, Dixie, acquired during his college days playing for Tulane University.
In Patterson, the Bull Frogs obtain a versatile OS23 infielder who continues to develop. He should develop into a fairly fast, high contact player with excellent defensive skills who could prove useful to the Frogs.
Clearly, this was a minor deal that, hopefully, will help both squads.

Maybe because I was a catcher I tend to over value them, anyway I picked Kryhoski up off waivers because he's a catcher and ML ready. When I analyzed my roster I realized he probably wouldn't play much for me so I put him on the trade board for a 2nd round pick, which Chicago offered and the deal was done.
I think Kryhoski can be a serviceable backup and a 2nd round pick is decent value.

I still think my team should be ready to compete for the next few years, we won 97 games last year and if we'd played .500 ball in the first two weeks of this season we'd only be 4-5 games out of the playoff race.
My pitching is decent but injuries force me to put guys in roles I don't want them in so I targeted [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6546895]Roberts[/url], among some others, as a possible acquisition . St. Louis are a few years away it seems so Roberts at OS33 seemed a poor fit.
I danced this one quite a bit but in the end the package of [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6987590]Wachtel[/url] and [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=8288418]Lindaman[/url] got the job done.
Roberts is solid and should have two years of good performance after this one, Wachtel has tanked his major league improves but if he gets any luck the next two years should make B+/A- and be serviceable and Lindaman has big time power potential at age 25 .
I'm still looking for pitching but at least I've got another arm for now.

The genus of this deal was Hamilton's u2u as the OS ran about possibly moving [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=6644802]Heredia[/url] but I wanted more power in the lineup so I made an initial offer for Salem that I thought was good value but New York wanted a bigger deal and some young pitching, in particular [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=7957806]Tobin[/url].
I didn't see anything that would make me give up Tobin so I countered with Wilcox and put Cleveland in the deal and it was done.
I see it as a classic youth for established star deal except that NY gets two younger players who can step right into their lineup and contribute. I think St, Cloud will be a great leadoff man but I've got lots of young hitters to feed in in a year or two, what I didn't have was another consistent power threat to add to [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=6907636]Galvin[/url] and [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=7390938]Felton[/url] but with Salem I now have that.

I needed to do something to jumpstart my rebuild, so I took the plunge with this deal. Cleveland and Salem are fantastic players with heavily weighted bundles in favor of the stronger attribute, but they will probably decline quickly once they hit that OS 34+ age.
I'm happy with St. Cloud as a top of the order hitter and hope that Wilcox gets to A-/A- as a serviceable middle of the rotation guy and that Matthews manages to become a valuable high power utility hitter for us.

[url=http://topindustrynews.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=8288444]Art Tuero[/url] is an OS 23 hitter with very little speed or defensive ability, but his B/B+ RHP attributes are very nice. It seemed like a good deal at the time
November 11, 2010 at 04:25PM View BBCode
I haven't had a lot of offers for my veteran players. Apparently it is a buyer's market. So, when Detroit contacted me and said "let's do business" and expressed interest in 4 veteran players, I thought "OK, let's see what we can do as a package deal."
Detroit gets:
[url=http://topindustrynews.com/player.jsp?id=7082120]RP Gus Oyler[/url] - a high quality reliever. I think he is only a point or two in each attribute from A+/A- (he won't get there since he is already in his 30's, but he is a very high A- overall).
[url=http://topindustrynews.com/player.jsp?id=6389759]OF Yoni "Lone" Wolf[/url] - there are not very many A/A+ hitters in the league. This one is now in DET.
[url=http://topindustrynews.com/player.jsp?id=6907627]SP Bill Hill[/url] - Hill is another of the AL pitchers who have been up and down throughout their careers. He has proven capable of shutting down playoff caliber lineups but he has also disappeared for stretches. At the least he is a quality 2nd to 4th starter and worth a look as a playoff starter.
[url=http://topindustrynews.com/player.jsp?id=6644802]OF Tom Heredia[/url] - is an A overall hitter with 2 full seasons of top-end production left before declining. He has B+ health and if he can avoid injury should be a perennial MVP contender. Heredia would be a nice addition to any lineup and he solidifies the DET top 8 really nicely.
New York gets:
Two 1st round picks - they are likely playoff picks, but I always consider 1st rounders legitimate value pieces. I expect to draft teens and hope they are not on the "bust" curve. In 5-7 seasons I should start seeing some production from these picks.
[url=http://topindustrynews.com/player.jsp?id=8288419]SP Edwin Harmon[/url] - I'm not sure what his top end projection is. I'm hoping he can get to B-/A+ and have similar success to what Jim Cleveland had for us the past 5 seasons.
[url=http://topindustrynews.com/player.jsp?id=7621147]Andy Marshall[/url], [url=http://topindustrynews.com/player.jsp?id=7957794]Rip Hall[/url], [url=http://topindustrynews.com/player.jsp?id=7273856]Tom Clough[/url], and [url=http://topindustrynews.com/player.jsp?id=7500551]Hinkey Neitke[/url] - are all B+ overall mid 20's players. They aren't playoff quality starting material, but I'm going to need to fill out a lineup card during my rebuild and I'm going to need mentors when my younguns are ready in a few years. I'm just hoping that these guys will pull together and help to keep the franchise floating through the transition years.

This started out simply enough. I've been looking to add a middle infielder since acquiring [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6807900]Salem[/url] and his D- health . I posted my desire after a couple of fruitless offers and NYA responded with an offer of Beckett for a pick, I tried to move another asset and then got bigger by adding a player and the pick while including Book in the deal.
NYA originally balked due to a drop in mentoring, a ruse I'm sure, so I added Bakely and the deal was done.
From my end I get a valuable infield reserve in Beckett who is an upgrade over my previous situation and a big bat off the bench and backing up all three outfield spots in Book. Book is struggling but I'm hoping he's got a bit of thunder left and will be rejuvenated by a return to Cleveland .
I give up a bench bat/mentor in Bakely who hits LHP pretty well and a prospect that I just didn't have room for in Bailey. Bailey is a classic system 3 player, he's B+ overall with a couple of years left to get a bit better but he's not good enough to play for a contending team. In New York Bailey may be able to start and pick up ICs that enable him to move beyond prospect status.
I'm obviously in contend now mode and this deal improves my depth without giving up any 1st round picks so I'm happy.
This was a "West Coast" deal all the way, I returned from a working dinner around 10pm Pacific and posted my MI thread and everything was wrapped up by 10:30 .

I need to start making room for some of the major league ready prospects in my system so some veterans have to go. I approached St. Louis, who came out of the expansion draft very young, with a short list of four red letter veterans I would be willing to move. St. Louis had Cipriani at the top of their wish list and a deal was quickly done.
In Cipriani St. Louis acquire an OS32 1B/OF with a reasonable blend of skills. Cipriani is red lettered in all the hitting categories, A+ in speed and a red letter mentor . Cipriani is very good vs. LHP, is solid defensively and runs the bases well . Cleveland will miss his multi positional skills but something had to go.
Cleveland gets back an original Buckeye draft pick, 31st overall in 2022, in Hubbell . Hubbell is a high tier 2 prospect in my mind but given the Cleveland pitching depth we don't have to rush him to the majors . I'm hoping that he eventually makes A- overall and can be a serviceable #4/#5 .
This was a small deal that gives St. Louis some benefit now and maybe gets me a reasonable arm in the future. I'm not crazy about it but my back was against the wall .

This deal is a minor deal of short-term significance that helps each team by balancing available resources a wee bit. The Bad Gnus had an abundance of outfielders, too many to see playing time. The Conglomerate needed to upgrade their outfield. Meanwhile, the Bad Gnus were looking for an adequate pitcher to pitch in a long or middle relief role during this season. The Conglomerate seemed to have an excess of relievers.
The deal is nothing to write home about, but hopefully each player will have more of an opportunity contribute, if only in a minor role, for his new team.

It's not often in SIM that you trade out red letter pitching for a backup middle infielder but that's what I did.
After viewing the expansion draft I targeted Catterson as a nice depth acquisition his numbers as a starter are mediocre but his ratings are decent, he's still relatively young and he's good defensively.
I made a pitch offering a two for one deal with hitters but Brooklyn expressed a desire for some pitching so I offered up Ferguson and the deal was struck.
Ferguson just has never really panned out for me despite lots of opportunities. He had a good year as a starter in 2023 but that's the only year he's had a sub 4.00 ERA in seven seasons. My pitching depth is decent, though I'd still like a dominant closer less than 35, so I hope that I don't regret this too much when the injuries pile up.
I wish Ferguson lots of success in the NL and hope this deal doesn't come back to bite me in the posterior. The boys sure won't miss him at the clubhouse poker table .

This will certainly put us in a bind next season when we are picking up a backup catcher off the waiver wire, but I'm hoping that Lowery's utility play and mentoring will make up for it in the long run.
