A trade has been completed between the Milwaukee Black Hats and the Kansas City River Cats. The Kansas City River Cats receive Andy Mathews from the Milwaukee Black Hats in exchange for Carl Welch.

I'm giving up a very decent OF prospect for an OS33 RP who has two, if I'm lucky three, good seasons left. OK, I'm tired of losing. My relief pitching has been killing me this season. I'm on the cusp of competing, hoping to do it next season. Mathews should help in that endevor, and I hope in the season after as well. I've got a few good OF prospects, so I shouldn't miss Welch much. Altho Milwaukee does certainly get very good value for Mathews. I initiated the trade talks, so if it turns out to bite me, it's my fault :)

Merena and Exposito to Brooklyn

5/5/2016

A trade has been completed between the Philadelphia BullFrogs and the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Brooklyn Dodgers receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=6052771]Vito Exposito[/url],[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=6948950]Al Merena[/url] from the Philadelphia BullFrogs in exchange for Jim Demery, Pete Acre.
------------------------------------
Philly proposed this few few days ago... and since it looks like I'm going to be competing again I figure I might as well beef up my pitching. Vito and Merena are both pitchers. Demery and Acre are hitters. Both hitters are solid prospects that will be A- overall in time. Hate to give up 2 young hitters like that but both pitchers are solid B+ or better types that I need more. My team has the most injury prone group of pitchers... at any time I might have 2 or 3 hurt at a time. Add to that the fact that I usually have a couple that are underperforming at any moment. So that means I need about 15 pitchers to get everything covered effectively. These 2 pitchers will fit right in with the rest of my guys. Vito will replace [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=5468294]Dell Lacey[/url] who is having a dreadful season. Merena will go to minors and we'll try to turn him into a A-guy. I felt like it was a win/win as both hitters are behind a bunch of people on my team depth chart and I need the pitchers worst..

A trade has been completed between the Philadelphia BullFrogs and the Cleveland Buckeyes. The Cleveland Buckeyes receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6644806]Frank Pettey[/url] from the Philadelphia BullFrogs in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6948949]Tom Cox[/url].

Pretty much a deal just for the sake of making a deal, I doubt either of these guys has much impact.

Philly pitched this to me and I initially resisted because of Cox's positional scarcity but then I thought, OK by the time [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5350410]Wooderson[/url] is in decline this run's gonna be over anyway so it won't really matter who I have catching.

I think Pettey's a decent 23rd man type so I made the deal, probably shouldn't have but , whatever.

A trade has been completed between the Cleveland Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Cobras. The Cincinnati Cobras receive Draft Pick - 2018 Round 2 (CLE) from the Cleveland Buckeyes in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5552888]Chuck Brown[/url].

Chuck's probably still shaking his head over this one in Boston.

The day that [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5552975]Forbes[/url] got hurt Boston offered me [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5269483]Sheehan[/url] for a 3rd round pick, figuring that I'd need some insurance, but I passed.

At the time I was confident that a platoon of [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=4949570]Spalding[/url] and [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5929306]McDiarmid[/url] could hold the fort and didn't see Sheehan as an upgrade . Reality quickly set in as both my platoon members struggled and the team kept losing so I reached out to Cincinnati . Killer had already posted that Brown was available so I offered up a 2nd round pick and the deal was done.

A 2nd round pick is, I think, fair value for an OS34 year old A- player whose greatest assets are speed and defense and Brown is killing the ball since his move to the American League. Sheehan, meanwhile, ended up in Kansas City so Boston got their expected return, all in all a win/win all around.

OK, this was was soley with the future in mind. Zawinul is a solid SP and only OS29 so I thought he would fit in nicely with a competing team looking for an upgrade. In exchange I got the potetial for 3 players (2 prospects and a #1 DP). This also allowed me to promote Sanders, who I have very high expectations for.

Short-term I think this really helps Brooklyn, as it strenghtens his rotation for his title run.

A trade has been completed between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Boston Pops. The Boston Pops receive Skip Roy, Jerry Malave, Draft Pick - 2018 Round 1 (BRO) from the Brooklyn Dodgers in exchange for Joe Zawinul, Draft Pick - 2018 Round 2 (BOS).

---------------------------------------
This trade is SOOOOO aggressive for me I can hardly stand it. I'm not normally this aggressive. I trade a little for an underachiever, I trade a 2nd for a guy I can use as a backup. I have never traded what is effectively 3 1st round draft picks for 1 pitcher. NEVER. But I'm telling your now
[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5783664]Joe Zawinul[/url] can be a difference maker for my team. I look at my team and I see them on top for the first time in about 5 seasons. Gotta try and keep them there. Zuwinul will replace a underachiving [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=5552866]Sammy Denny[/url], who is a former Cy Young winner, in our roation to give us a formative 1,2,3[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=5269417]Jim Nichol[/url] (Currently #1 in Cy) to [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=6389758]Iggy Uggla[/url] (currently #2 in Cy) to Zuwinul as one of the top 1, 2, 3 in the NL.

Next season when I bring up [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=6644790]Pete ?Super? Cooper [/url] we'll be right there with 4 Cy Young candidate caliber pitchers to be figthing for the top spot again. Cooper is comparable to Nichol skillswise.....

And I might add, It does seem like alot to give up for a pitcher with a 4.58 career ERA, however, we have had great luck getting alot outta pitchers that 'seem' to not be good. For examples on this: see [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=6389758]Iggy Uggla[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=5468294]Dell Lacey[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=5552866]Sammy Denny[/url], and [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=5468241]George Spriggs[/url].

I have a great Pitching coach that was hired before the 2013 season to thank for my team's recent pitching success!

A trade has been completed between the Kansas City River Cats and the Chicago Guppies. The Chicago Guppies receive Ed Wall from the Kansas City River Cats in exchange for Mickey Sunkel.

Both trades were made in an attempt to win it all this season (and I hope for the next 3 or 4 seasons as well). I gave up excellent prospects in both trades for 31/30 yr old vets who can make a major contribution for the next few seasons. Jordan will shore up my pitching and replace the aging (but stalwart!) DiPino as a starter and Sunkel will give me a quality, power hitting, strong armed catcher with excellent health to play full time in place of the young and probably overwhelmed Hansen. In return I give up excellent prospects to team that aren't contending this season, so I think it is a win/win for both parties in both trades. Actually I may have given up too much, but I do want to win!

Brookens for Bascombe

A trade has been completed between the Chicago Guppies and the Cleveland Buckeyes. The Cleveland Buckeyes receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5552941]Bill Brookens[/url] from the Chicago Guppies in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7181255]Carver Bascombe[/url].

On the eve of the 2018 season Cleveland have dealt out their 1st round pick, 13th overall, for veteran swingman Bill Brookens .

The motivation for this deal is pretty clear, I want one more shot at the playoffs . This team has been a great regular season team with seven straight trips to the postseason but only two championships and it is really showing its' age.

Bascombe is a long haul project but for a rebuilding team he's a reasonable risk, in return Cleveland gets a valuable 1-2 year rental in Brookens. Last season my bullpen was a disaster and with some drastic declines I felt I had to do something .

Brookens has been very effective the past three seasons out of the pen and he can start in a pinch, though [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=6807923]Kimura[/url] is probably my first option there. I'm hoping Brookens can continue to succeed this year and help get us into the playoffs again, that would mean every year of this renewal term.

A trade has been completed between the Kansas City River Cats and the Milwaukee Black Hats. The Milwaukee Black Hats receive Rene Capron, Draft Pick - 2019 Round 2 (KC) from the Kansas City River Cats in exchange for Malik Taylor.

Even before Baltimore's pitching upgrade, I knew the only way I would make the playoffs this season was by enhancing my rotation. I've been shopping for pitching for awhile, but decided after Baltimore's trade to get more aggressive and send out offers for trades I would usually hesitate to make. This one was accepted, and I am satisfied that I did improve my shot at the playoffs. Taylor is a solid 5th starter, even in this pitching rich league. His health is poor, but I am hoping to keep at least 5 decent pitchers healthy and Taylor will certainly aid that effort. I think Milwaukee got a very good return on the deal. Capron should eventually be a solid starter and a #2 pick, even (I hope) a playoff #2, is valuable in this league. I think it's a fair trade. Both sides got what they needed.

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Kansas City River Cats. The Kansas City River Cats receive Florian Fricke from the Boston Pops in exchange for Jamie MacKenzie.

My thinking on this was simply if I'm going to be bad I might as well be bad with really young players. I thought Fricke would have value to a playoff contender and KC had a (IMHO) majors-ready prospect in MacKenzie in return. With his A+ health I'll be able to get MacKenzie maximum starts and hope for good improves over the next 2 to 3 offseasons. I'd expect he'll get to A+ contact and red letter power with good speed - so see him as a on-base machine and run producer...with some pop.

We'll see.

MacKenzie will be good, possibly better than Fricke by the time he reaches Fricke's age. But of course Fricke is good now, and that's what I needed, since I do want to win it all this season. And Fricke will be good for a quite a few seasons to come. So it's really a good trade for both sides, we each got what we wanted. Although I do miss having the chance to see if MacKenzie could get to 50% at C :)

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Minnesota Lakers. The Minnesota Lakers receive [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6389759]Yoni "Lone" Wolf[/url] from the Boston Pops in exchange for [url=http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7181202]Steve Dickerson[/url].

I've been shopping any of my 3 minor league pitchers (Hill, Dierker or Dickerson) along with a 2nd rounder for a major league prime pitcher, but haven't had any luck. Wolf is an immediate upgrade for me to my already league leading lineup and he is only OS 26, so I'm hoping that he gets better. If Wolf spends 30+ days on the DL every season and Dickerson ends up winning 200 games, I'll look like an idiot, but I think this move helps me toward a playoff push this year (especially w/KC getting Fricke).
4EverGreen

March 27, 2010 at 04:23AM View BBCode

As was just posted I just completed my second deal of the day (with the Minnesota Lakers, swapping OF'er Yoni Wolf for SP propsect Steve Dickerson).

My thinking on this was the same as before. If I'm going to be in last place I see no benefit in keeping quality guys like Fricke and Wolf who can absolutely help contending teams now (and for a number of years). In this case getting Dickerson really solidifies my pitching staff of the future...and with this years likely first pick in the draft I'm hopng I can get a future stud for somewhere in my lineup (since I won't need pitching).

As has been posted I think these deals are "win wins" for both contending teams...and for me ~2-4 seasons out.

I can only hope because this losing is killing me!

Wilson for Prospects

A trade has been completed between the Cleveland Buckeyes and the Minnesota Lakers. The Minnesota Lakers receive [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5929165]Dolly Burns[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6807900]Peter Salem[/url], [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6948936]Leo Beckett[/url] from the Cleveland Buckeyes in exchange for [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5929253]Chile Wilson[/url].

I probably should just throw in the towel and accept the fact that my run is over but that's not in my nature. I really want one more crack at the post season so I dealt for another starting pitcher.

Cleveland still has a top end offense, #1 in the American League, and I'm hoping that Wilson can help stabilize the rotation and will allow me to move [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5697348]Drees[/url] to the bullpen and provide some help there as well.

I still can't fathom why some of my pitchers are having the type of results they are but with almost 40 games to go we're only 5 games out so I'm taking one last shot.

[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6807900]Peter Salem[/url] and [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6948936]Leo Beckett[/url] are reasonable prospects but I'm gonna crash and burn next year so they won't do me much good .

In [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5929253]Chile Wilson[/url] I get a solid starter who can probably be dealt out next season for around what I paid for him now and allows me the delusion of still being in the race even though we are in 4th place.

After all, a man's gotta have dreams .

From MIN's standpoint, we were unable to acquire any significant player upgrades except for Wolf in an earlier deal, and he is only mid 20's. So, I'm thinking that my best window to compete is not this season, but from next year into the next 3+ seasons. Wilson became expendable at that point and I liked the Salem better as a prospect than I did anyone else who was offered to me.

Allen from the Black Hats

A trade has been completed between the Cleveland Buckeyes and the Milwaukee Black Hats. Can't honestly recall the last time I made a deal with The Black Hats but casting around for arms I spotted Allen on the Milwaukee roster and thought: "Why not ?" .

Allen's not a world beater but he's an upgrade for me as I try to chase down a playoff spot and I'm not giving up much. Clements is done after this year and Sivess may turn into a #5 starter by the time he's 30 or so but I'll be knee deep in rebuild by then.

It's a low risk deal for me and for Milwaukee they get a potential asset in return for a pitcher about to hit decline. Nothing major but if Allen helps me win a game or two in September then I'm happy.

The whole Buckeyes Blow Up

I've never gutted a team so quickly and moved so many pieces . I've never seen my trade desk so full or made so many counters, well maybe I've made more counters.

Within the first month of the 2019 season I moved nine players in seven deals. The nine players I moved have accumulated 21 All Star appearances, 3 ROY Awards, 3 Cy Young Awards, an MVP and a Fireman Award.

In return I received 14 players, five 1st round picks and three 2nd round picks. I guess we'll know in 6-8 years whether I got good value.

It was a ton of fun and I learned a lot about the way some others play the game.

A trade has been completed between the Boston Pops and the Kansas City River Cats. The Kansas City River Cats receive Tex "Mex" Johnson from the Boston Pops in exchange for Hal White.

This trade is very out of character for me; it is not logical, it is purely emotional. White has good skill levels and excellent health, he should fit in fine as a backup for my low health starters who are sure to have injuries. But he was relegated to the bullpen this season for a reason. His stats have always been mediocre. He has never won the big game for me, and has lost quite a few big ones. So I've been looking to trade him. Boston wanting a good starter gave me the opportunity. And White is a good starter. I got a nice prospect in return, (Johnson is now Texiera), but I think on paper Boston got the best of the deal. And knowing Abe's sense of humor, White will likely beat me good every time he faces me. But I gave up a pitcher I didn't really need and got good a decent prospect, so I am happy. We'll see how it comes out :)
