oh ok, sorry. there never has been one. i had to cheat.

(thank you voters for not putting in biggio in the same class as two great, great players like Maddux and Thomas.)

lolz. i didn't want to say that, and start up some kind of "greatest second baseman" nonsense. just because the position has been historically populated by dwarves, it is supposed to give a ticket to a thing like biggio, which is more of an overgrown dwarf that could hit better than Mazerowski or whoever and played for a very long time.

I think there is something to be said for longetivity. that's a hard thing to do. but it doesn't get you into the hof automatically. it shouldn't, anyway.

oh its awesome, biggio was a good player. but he shouldn't be HOF for getting to 3000, you should be Great. but, they have a bunch of goods that got in for 3000, so there you go.

Yup, never been a single player voted in unanimously (something to do idiotic writers not wanting to elect someone on their first year of the ballot, even if they are deserving of the Hall. The voters are morons. I mean seriously how is Maddux not on EVERY ballot??!!) Biggio will get in next year for sure though. I get what you are saying that he was never great, but I think there are two ways to get into the Hall; be great or be very good for really long time. And of course, like Dirt says, the stupid Veterans Committee will put Morris in the Hall in 2017 anyway even though he doesn't deserve it.

I respect craig biggio. he was a good (or at least effective) player at three very different positions in the majors. that in itself is an accomplishment. he won 4 or 5 gold gloves at 2B after coming up as a catcher. that's not easy. he had a lot of hits, scored a lot of runs and stole a pile of bases. his numbers probably should get him in. but for me there's just something missing. there is more to the hall of fame than just numbers, imo. and whatever that something is, craig biggio doesn't have it.

(I know the numbers guys will crucify me for that, but I don't care.)

I'm a pretty big numbers guy, but I do understand your arguement. In real life he is gonna get in though because 3,000 hits = HoF, like it or not.

yeah, the problem with the numbers is the retarded number will get him in.

(its supremely inronic that bagwell gets non voted because he was awesome. since biggio is so awesomely high mediocre, the assumption is he is clean. its a world gone wild.)

The Raines and Bagwell situations truly piss me off, and Edgar to a lesser degree.

I'm actually fine with Biggio getting in,and he will. I mean when your top five similarity scores are Yount, Jeter, Morgan, Molitor and Robbie Alomar I'd say there's a reasonable argument that you were great, toss in the unicorn (3,000 hits) and the defense and I'm okay with Biggio in the Hall of Fame.

yeah, he is alright and all. its just a shame he will get in and they hose folks like bagwell that were truly great. raines should just plain be in, the voters are just dumb.

(Edgar Marintez is a better hitter than 1/3 of the hitters in the HOF at least. probably more. he is actually one of the finest hitters that ever picked up a bat, truly.)

he likely will. but any argument that places craig biggio closer to the hall of fame than tim raines is a travesty.

amen to that. if they are going to keep Martinez out because he didn't play defence for most of his career (which Thomas didn't either, by the way) are they also going to keep out an American league starting pitcher who played after 1973? of course not, because that would be dumb. so is the anti-DH thing.

True, but you know who was a better hitter than Edgar, and played defense and everything ............. Jeff Bagwell .

i was hoping i was not throwing bagwell under the bus. he should have been voted in on his first try. he was the complete, crazy, awesome.

Raines, Bagwell and Martinez should all be in.

I don't think either Raines or Edgar make it and I think Bagwell is less than a 50/50 proposition now.

There is absolutely no rational argument against any of them but Bagwell and Raines are tainted by either suspected steroid use or personal drug issues and Edgar was "just a hitter" so I think they're all gonna get screwed over.

Oh I know that none of them WILL make it, but they SHOULD make it.
