Looking further ahead than I probably should be.... Cleveland matches up well against San Antonio. Or at least 10 times better than they look against the Suns. We swept the Spurs this year. I'm not a basketball expert, so I have no idea why, but maybe has something to do with Ferry building the team in the San Antonio mold.Tyson

Besides don't look past the Pistons/Bulls winner. The Cavs will have their hands full in the ECF if they get past NJ.

But how did Cleveland do against Detroit? Detroit seems to my non-fan eye to be a better team (although Cleveland obviously has the best singular player in that series) so I'm doubtful that Cleveland makes it to the finals.

As for San Antonio, we beat them twice while we were still using Snow in the starting lineup and giving Damon Jones heavy minutes (in other words, when the team was playing like crap). Pavlovic scored a total of 1 point in 9 combined minutes in those 2 games.
And who can forget this classic Lebron dunk over Tim Duncan?

I'm not saying the Cavs will win either of these series. I'm from Cleveland after all. I'm just saying they have a chance against either team...

We went 1-3 against Detroit this year. But we came so close to knocking them out last year in the playoffs. I think we have a better team than we did last year, and Detroit has a worse team. I understand why the NBA suspended them all, but this is a steep price for standing to defend your teammate. Especially given that neither Diaw nor Stoudemire actually got involved in the scuffle. Wouldn't fines have sufficed?

Yeah, I'll certainly be rooting for the Suns, but the Spurs certainly benefit from this one, a lot. In particular because it is the one game that would let them take back homecourt advantage.

Cleveland was just a bit too glad to be there. I'm pretty tired of all the criticism the Cavs got for being an inferior team and all the criticism Mike Brown/Danny Ferry have gotten for bad coaching and not putting together enough weapons for Lebron. There are 15 other teams in the East that the Cavs topped, so they deserve some credit for that. The Cavs' defense was great for most of the playoffs and season thanks to Brown - the Cavs really don't have any great individual defensive players. And as the Lakers/Kobe, Nets/Carter, T-Wolves/Garnett, and many other teams with superstars can tell you, it's tougher than you think to put the pieces together around a superstar.
