ah yes, whenever the veracity of your argument is challenged, declare victory and insult the intelligence of the opposition. classic tactics. too transparent to be really effective, but classic nonetheless.

haps, i just asked a simple question. no criticism.

you first said it was not a metric, but a conecpt.

"strength of schedule is not a metric, it is a concept.

the you said it was a metric

"the fact that strength of schedule is a hard metric to implement "

the part there where it says "strength of schedule is a hard metric to implement." you are saying it is a metric. if you want to say something else, say it.

also, who appointed you Lord God of football analysis? seriously. how do you know so much that others don't?

Isn't it obvious? Happy doesn't watch football. In fact, he probably doesn't even like football really. One thing he does love, however, is winning an argument. So he reads Football Outsiders on a daily basis, absorb their crappy BP-lite stats as if it's gospel, then goes on to disseminate his superior knowledge of DYAR and SoS to us mere mortals, and shames us when we reject his points.

In other words, happy represents everything wrong with the Internet.

Dirtdevil, i never even really responded to what you said. so here, this is for you.

Strength of schedule isnt my sole basis for saying the dolphins arent good. In fact, i never said the dolphins were bad, i said the ravens were much better.

The phins had homefield advantage. they had equally as many wins. So i gave ONE of the reasons why the dolphins may not be as good as they appear on paper. The phins are not an 11-5 team. they are probably as good or better than the other AFC East teams, and they probably deserved to make the playoffs. The ravens on the other hand are an elite team. We may well see them in the superbowl this year. A ravens victory was not particularly surprising to say the least.

Pirates like DYAR. Maybe he doesn't know much, but apparently he at least knew enough not to pick Miami Sunday. Can you believe IHOP charges $12 for ham and eggs? Those pancakes must be made with butter from a Hindu cow's firstborn.

(Assuming the cow's kid was a daughter and then was old enough to create milk, of course. I know where milk comes from. The store.)

yes. sometimes we forget and think he's actually looking for a rational discussion of viewpoints. it's all our fault, really.

the dolphins, in fact, are not very good. one had only to watch them play, at any point in the season, to know this.

the ravens still have a quite decent defense. and a team with a decent defense can win, especially against a team like miami. which is not very good.

Is the concept of the rookie quarterback being at a disadvantage because he is playing his first playoff game (and on the road at that) overblown?

its not that i think i know a lot about football, but really, strength of schedule doesnt matter? Favre top 5 QB? Eagles wont be good this year? Jesus people. Do *I* watch football? I have been to 22 games in the past 3 years. how about you guys?

i don't think so. baltimore didn't win because flacco played great. they won (as per usual) because the defence played great. i think it's fair to say that flacco has to do a lot less in order to win than does, say, ryan. the respective results probably in part reflect that.

I've been to zero games, personally, in my life. Of course, one could argue that the wonder of the television and the ever present ESPN machine might help me stay at least within shouting distance of your insights.

Besides that...

Also, the games? Not cheap. Not all of us have enough disposable income flowing out our ass that we can afford 22 games in 3 years.

yes, you're 1 for 3. are you really sure that merits a "jesus people"? gary kubiak doesn't claim success on such slim merit.
