After trying everything else, T.O. finally discovers a way to get people to notice him. The sound you hear is ESPN combusting.

It will be all you hear out of ESPN for the next few days.

My suggestion to anyone here who wants to comment on this story: Whatever the first thought is that comes to your mind, don't post it. Let it sit in the back of your head for a few hours, mingling with the other thoughts in your head. Then come back and post.

While it's tempting to attribute Owens' suicide attempt to another self-centered ploy for attention (see my comment above), it is certainly not something that I actually believe. Without delving too deeply into the third-rate, armchair psychoanalysis that is sure to bombard the airwaves over the next 72 hours, it appears that beneath Owens' veneer of narcissism and ego lies a much deeper well of insecurity and fear. If this casts him in a more favorable and symphathetic light, so be it --- given the negative attention he's reveled in throughout his career, it might honestly help the man that he be recognized as a human being.

Did you read the story linked by Deadspin about Ken Griffey Jr.? I'd never heard that before.

Glad I wasn't the one to come out of the chute on this topic. I saw the headline in passing on espn this morning before I went to class. Not sure if I care.

Oh wait, yeah, I don't care. I feel bad such a thing like this has happened, but hell, we all have our bad spats with being our own worst enemy.

I was unaware of that story. I guess I was 9-years-old when it was released by The Seattle Times in 1992. Nothing much else to say except that I applaud Griffey for having the courage to relate his own story as a way to educate others.

Was that the thought that popped into your head immediately, or the one that you thought about for a few hours?

There's plenty of room here for wild speculation, but I think I'll defer to Jay Mariotti and Woody Paige. If Owens did in fact attempt suicide, I only hope that the man seeks treatment --- whether or not he chooses to publicly acknowledge it.

The first thought was that the titans may have a chance this weekend, then i took myself out behind the woodshed and beat my own Arse for having such a dumb revelation.
