League Status

June 02, 2017 at 05:51AM View BBCode

This league is currently at 8 real players; the remaining players are all chaperones. This is not enough to sustain this league.

I think it is time to consider shutting down this league. Naturally I am reluctant to do so because the league has so much history.

Here is my thought:

- For anyone with any paid credit left, that credit plus an extra $15 worth will be transferable to any team you want to select from the Available Teams list.

- We will play 5 more seasons in this league at no cost to all current owners and chaperones.

- After those 5 seasons, this league will shut down.

Again, no one wants to see a league shut down but playing with half a league isn't good for anyone either.

If most remaining owners would prefer to keep going, we can keep it going, but a final 5-season fight would not only spice things up here (before the end) but would also help fill slots in other leagues as your credit is transferred (along with your bonus credit).

Please let me know what you think; unless there is a strong consensus to keep the league going, we will start this process this weekend.

Another option might be to merge with the Tommy John League.

Any chance of a new league starting up from scratch? I miss the ability to shape a team's destiny without having to deal with another manager's baggage.

I will roll with any option we go with.

Right now with so many leagues needing owners, starting a new league would just make the problem worse.

However, we still have Term leagues that have expansion drafts, so you are re-drafting from the pool of players from the expansion teams. This is pretty close, if enough teams are participating. The Robin Roberts League is between terms right now and has five teams in the draft giving you a couple hundred players to draft from to build your team. So that's your best shot for the "new team feel" for right now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to complain. But if there are two leagues with 8 owners (or 7 and 9, etc.) rather than merge, why not just fold two and start a new one? Are people that attached to their data bits that they refuse to let go? But yeah, I'm good with whatever, even though I'd probably be rebuilding after this season. I'll still run my team as if we're continuing, just for the sake of making decent trades.

Chris any chance if we join another league we could transfer our top players/minor leagues to the league we choose to join? You could even limit it to the number of players allowed to move..
I agree with Artistik, it suxs to try and rebuild and have a league fold and then your stuck with someone elses censored . Talk it over with whomever runs this game - ifs its not possible then I'm out after the 5 year season grace period.

I'd vote for a merge or new league - not real eager to do expansion.

Can we please get clarification of what is going to happen with this league and it's teams? My monthly payment is due, but I don't see the purpose of renewing if we are disbanding in a month or 2.

Thanks.

I agree I just paid the 7 bucks - weren't the last seasons of the league for free?

I sent a message to admin (Chris) asking him to review the status of our league/message board .. I'm ready to give up on sims if we get screwed again because of leagues folding, I'd be happy with moving my team to another league that has openings rather then rebuild a censored team

Maybe people wouldn't leave if they continued to make enhancements to the baseball side of SIM DYNASTY....

Funny how admin has no solutions to that need...

I agree that things seem to be... stagnating a bit. And while I think that further improvements COULD generate additional interest, we need to remember that these guys have created something that has given us all a decent amount of enjoyment. They're not just looking to "screw people over."

I personally think that merging leagues only delays the problem. I think more people would be interested in jumping into a league if they got a fresh start, but then again I've never been overly attached to my data bits. Yes, we all want to preserve the hard work we've put into our teams, but to act like we're being ripped off by the site if they have to fold a league is silly. More to blame are the owners who sell off all of their future to make a short run and then abandon ship for the inevitable rebuild. They are why the leagues become a ghost town.

I don't really know what can be done to improve it, but I know that yelling at Chris and the gang isn't really the answer.

Yelling? Who is yelling... We pay a lot of money to play in leagues like this. SIM should be looking for= ways to improve the leagues constantly. Complacency is devastating and we are seeing the effects...

Why we shouldn't jump the gun and assume that no answer means no consideration.

I had to pay twice since I was told the last 5 seasons would be free. How will I be refunded?

Thanks
