A cinderella story, it's back to being a pumpkin, and holy win-loss records, along with other mid season musings

This league has had exactly one 110 game winner, and right now we have 4 teams on that pace exactly, with another two close behind. Looking back on my previous leagues, the ability to gain 110 wins in one season is not a common occurance, but after game 81, Arizona, Cleveland, Kansas City and Washington are all at or above 55 wins. Milwaukee and Detriot are not far off pace with 54 and 52 wins respectively.

- Gee Wolfie, what a boring season we already know who is going to be in the playoffs this year - you might say. I say, look deeper! The Bombers and Brewers are both lurking and putting together solid years and solid teams. New York(AL) has quite a bit of young talent on it and they will soon be pushing for their time in the lime light. Both wildcard spots are up for grabs over in the NL, with the surprise team being the New York Giants, who currently sit as the forerunner in this race. Apparently, someone forgot to tell these guys they are supposed to lose 90 games every year. The Giants have a good mix of both young and seasoned players, and it is helping them get out of the cellar this year.

But with every Cinderella story, somebody's carriage is turning back into a pumpkin. The Brooklyn Bums haven't seen a year under 100 wins, until now. After 4 strong seasons, they appear to be on the downslope and are looking to deal some older talent. Before you start shedding tears and wishing for days now past, fret not, they have some serious talent under the age of 25, and I am sure they will be back and competitive again very soon.

Then there is Houston, one of last years surprise teams, who made the playoffs with 99 wins, now sitting below .500. With a roster so young, but talented, I don't really know what to say. I am sure it's just a bad luck season for them.

-Actually I do know what to say to Houston. Take the change out of your right pocket and put it in your left. Now double knot your left shoe. Turn your hat backwards, and take a tee and stick it behind your left ear.....

Playoff predictions -
AL: Cleveland, Washington wc- KC and Detroit
NL: Arizona, Milwaukee wc - New York and Chicago

On a side note, we have some interesting player names in this league. I'd be interested to hear what a few of your favorites are! (either system generated or owner generated)

Owner generated faves: (i won't be listing my own team here)
Albutt Command - CLE he's a velocity strong pitcher (guessing that was changed prior to the merge)
Shasta McNasty - Hou (there are a few to choose from here)
James McHeally - MIL - pitcher with d+ health
** also, good sir, you have an excessive amount of Mac's/Mc's on your team. And no, I will not trade my 3b Duff MacWilliam to you.
Elmer Glue -NY giants
Juice Parmelee - St Louis - i don't remember if this was system generated or not

But some of the system generated ones that amuse me are:
Dick Blewett - Cle
Bubbles Ceccarelli -Tex
Snake Thompson -Hou
Leech Stapleton -SD

Good Luck to all of you for the rest of the way!!

Ok, I have done all the things you told me to do and we will see if Romeo magic can work for me as it did for Tin Cup!

Can't believe I forgot about that one. I remember seeing that name in the draft and thinking that there was no way a computer generated that name . Admin secretly trolls us with some of these names I swear.

Nice run down of the league wolfwood83. Always a good read. Hopefully KC can do more than wildcard this season. Fingers crossed.
