Anyways, in my humble opinion this is one of the greatest baseball pics ever made. It says so much in a pic and captures perfectly probably the most unique wind-up in baseball history. Whenever I see Buzzzzzy's caption about Hank Aaron choking up on the bat I think of Luis Tiant and wonder how many more games he would have won if he faced home plate all the time!
I can remember watching Tiant on TV(we actually had a huge 13" TV which was a big increase from about a 9" we used to have) and occasionally he would pause while looking at the outfield as if looking at the placement of his fielders then let it rip to home plate. They just don't make em like that anymore...the molds have been broken.

A trio of greats for the 75 World Series that ESPN calls the 2nd greatest series of all time. We have Tiant, Rose, and Fisk behind all that gear. 3 of the games were won in memorable fashion and 4 games were decided by 1 run. I saw a couple full games on you tube and of course there is clips of the famous windup of Tiant. The winners share of that series was $19,000. Nowadays the Batboys dog gets more then that.

That was my first year of college in Boston. While a huge Yankee fan, my favorite player was (and is) Tony Perez. Great series. The ball he hit off of Bill Lee still hasn't landed.Rich

Darcy is best known as the pitcher who gave up Carlton Fisk's walk-off home run in Game 6 of the 1975 World Series. After beginning the 1976 season with the Reds, Darcy was demoted to the team's Indianapolis Indiana farm club in June of that year. Darcy would never again pitch at the major league level.
