Predicted 2209 Standings

May 22, 2015 at 02:25PM View BBCode

Using my proprietary algorithms I have concocted my predictions for the 2209 standings. Teams that underachieve these numbers should fire their managers. (This is a mechanical exercise for fun...don't be offended if the standing-o-matic spits out a poor record for your squad :) )

CLE 100 62
SEA 93 69
ANA 88 74
BOS 84 78
DET 78 84
LAA 77 85
WAS 69 93
TEX 59 103

MIL 103 59
SD 87 75
MIA 85 77
BRO 84 78
ARI 83 79
PIT 77 85
PHI 72 90
FLA 57 105

I've used this system in other leagues. It pretty good at predicting the order or the standings (90% of the time the prediction is no further than +/-1 of actual placement), but not as good at the W-L records.

This league presents special challenges. I will modify the model as I go.

The thing it does NOT do at all is consider mid-season trades or injuries.

Sadly that is an improvement

Doesn't take into account tanking, lol!

Maybe there should be an algorithms for 'Strength of Tanking'

Nagi, My question is why don't you take into mid-season trades now?

This is definitely good news for the Beaneaters. They have been sub .500 for the last 13 years so this is a welcome and long earned change. (-:

My prediction... Seattle misses playoffs again. Team is way to erratic and bullpen is a underachiving.

Heck, just got swept by Washington who was 15-45 at the time. And Texas to this point is 12-54 and thev'e won 6 games against Seattle.

What am learning is that when have 2 different core teams make seamless championship runs, the 2nd wave of players is just not strong enough to win championships. This happened to me last time to. Won alot of championships with the 1st wave of players but the 2nd wave just isnt strong enough to win WorldSeries. A team really has to go through the rebuilt process again after the 1st championship unit retires. Thou it is good for the Prestige rating.

Agree with you completely buzz. Second wave never good enough. Tear down and rebuild only way to go.

I'm on a 14 year-run but haven't made it to the World Series the last four times. Keep getting hammered in the NL Championships.

We got 4 really good teams in the nl now...very tough to even make the playoffs...took me three years I think of trying to win to get there...

I thought about rebuilding both last year and this year but have decided to give it a go.

NL is weak. Whats happening is AL is beating up un each other and then good ol' ABE rolls the dice on who wins the WS. San Diego wouldn't even make th playoffs in those most of those 14 seasons over in the AL. Look at the rosters, majority of SD players would't be starting on the top3-4 teams in the AL.;)

That's interesting. I could run the model on an alternate division. The model is not bad and would give a pretty good indication of what would be. If you have an idea in the regard, let me know the teams you'd like to place in a realigned division and I'll crank it out on Tuesday

I think it's great how after I was pegged to finish first, I probably won't make the playoffs....

You're in second and will most likely beat me in five in the playoffs.

ryang...you might win more if you were less aggressive on the base paths. You've run yourself out of about 50 runs this season.

My settings this year are conservative compared to last year....
