In case anyone was wondering why I named the Cleveland franchise the Islanders, it is a reference to the Lake Erie Islands. Most people don't know that there are several islands in Lake Erie. I grew up going to two of them quite often. Actually, one town on one of the islands is quite the party place on weekends during the summer. It even has the Mardi Gras tradition of beeds. Anyway, thought some of you might be interested in why a Cleveland team would be called the Islanders.July 08, 2004 at 04:16PM View BBCode
I had wondered about the team name. See, SD can be fun AND educational!July 08, 2004 at 04:34PM View formatted

I like learning, it puts me one step above cockroaches in terms of intelligence. Maybe if I learn enough one day I'll be smarter than a horsefly.July 08, 2004 at 06:24PM View BBCode
Could you be referring to Put-In-Bay (spelling?), where they have their own local version of Jimmy Buffet (Pat something), and the Bud Light flows like a river from the mountains in spring?July 09, 2004 at 12:42PM View BBCode
Pat Daly is his name and yes Put-n-Bay is the party place I'm referring to. You ever been there?July 09, 2004 at 02:49PM View BBCode
I was there once with my cousin - my family lives mostly in the Buckeye State around Youngstown/Canton and Columbus. The weekend was one long Bud-flavored drinking game. But from what little memory I do have, it was an interesting place, much like any other beach town but without the salt water, just plopped down on a tiny island. Kind of chilly at night.Pages: 1
